It is called, "Be a voice" and it gives you the opportunity to tell us what you'd like to experience at the AEC. Tell us topics you'd like to hear about and speakers you'd like to see. Review abstracts and provide input. Help NEHA develop a training and education experience that continues to advance the proficiency of the environmental health profession AND helps create bottom line improvements for your organization!

Microbiological Control Systems in the Pet Food Industry

Purpose: To present the essentials of a comprehensive Microbiological Control System (MCS). Specific strategies, programs and processes to achieve the objective of eliminating environmental pathogens and cross contamination to finished products will be discussed.

Presentation Summary: The essentials of a comprehensive Microbiological Control System will be discussed. Specifics related to environmental sampling, Salmonella controls, cross contamination prevention, sampling schemes, six sigma methods, and metrics, will be presented and discussed.

Conclusions: In order to achieve the objective of eliminating environmental pathogens and cross contamination to finished products, a combination of strategies must be used. This includes a robust Microbiological Control System and quantitative assessments for measurement and improvement.
